Non-controversial items passed include a medical building on Davis Blvd, the plan for Overton Ridge Park, the updating of school speed zone times, hired Keller-based recruiter Ron Holifield to help us find a city manager, enticed Ray Brown into serving on a committee, and cancelled the July 3rd council meeting.
The commitment to spend the first $600,000 of the $1.4 million Highland Oaks Crossing Channel passed 3-2, with Brown and Carson dissenting. I tried to make the point that the landowner/developers were likely to reap big profits at taxpayers’ expense, but that won’t be known for several years yet, and the three yes votes rightfully worried that we’d just end up paying more if we wait.
